The British player reached the third round in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slams during the season.

Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in the last two tournaments in 2025 due to a health issue she has been battling for the last week and a half.

At 22 years old had planned to participate in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering again next season.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the final set versus Zhu due to the lower back problem that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally for the first time since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

Raducanu had three match points before losing to Jessica Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.

She secured 28 matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way then falling in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in late this year.

She mentioned that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati during August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
