Football Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Murs in Premier League Forecasts
Arsenal's ten-match winning streak was ended by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, but will the Premier League leaders recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."
The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, fans and a range of guests.
For the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Life
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.
"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."
The singer and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.
"I will not push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football team," he added.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a period too.
"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be quite tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their past two matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.
The Hammers' sole away victory this season came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno was previously that team's coach.
Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?
I am going to choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.
My son told me to select Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
Thiago will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be quite close. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive game for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six matches.
Fulham have got plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.
Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team disrupt the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The logical choice would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.
But I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.
Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be absolutely desperate for a good result, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a poor run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this season. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard fixture to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
