Iran Reports Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the US has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
