Nearly 25,000 Lost Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Weather Systems
Around 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events passed over the state, bringing powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Broad Destruction
Residents witnessed large ice chunks measuring up to 7 centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
At the same time, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also faced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Emergency response teams responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

At one point on the previous day, over 28k energy customers in the state were lacking electricity.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were predicted to continue along significant areas of eastern Queensland this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued thunderstorm potential expected across different parts of both regions.

Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
