A total of Twelve historical objects were ceremoniously given back to Ethiopia after being kept by a family in Germany for in excess of ten decades.

These artefacts, originally acquired in the 1920's by Germany's then-envoy to the Ethiopian empire Franz Weiss and his wife Hedwig, were transferred on Wednesday to the Institute of Ethiopian Studies at Addis Ababa University.

This set contained royal crowns, armor and canvases, all viewed as historically significant in the nation.

"These artefacts continue to stand as a mark of the long-standing and amicable relationship between Germany and Ethiopia," said the German diplomat, the ambassador to the East African country.

Professor Ramon Wyss, whose father was delivered during the household's diplomatic posting in the nation, presented the objects at a event witnessed by the Minister of Tourism the tourism official.

He said that the family's intention to return the artefacts was to "showcase their appeal with the people and safeguard the culture and past linked to my father's origin."

These items were either presents or acquisitions, as stated by the household.

"I would like to thank the Weiss household for practically expressing their deep appreciation for the nation by meticulously preserving these artifacts and importantly securing their repatriation to their proper country," stated the tourism minister.

The minister added that the items would shortly be made accessible to the general audience for research and educational purposes, terming the decision a milestone in preserving Ethiopia's historical legacy.
