The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

While perhaps not at the same level as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future away from worry.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to mirror the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, provided by a local firefighter, was christened after the popular vernacular phrase of young people yelling “6-7” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently declared “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A New Life

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to kick off the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the character of Miami: happy, varied, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Every time, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
